Formula 1 STC Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2026 – Leaderboard
Virtual Race — does not count toward season standings.
The excitement in Jeddah for the 2026 Formula 1 STC Saudi Arabian Grand Prix was palpable as Kimi Antonelli demonstrated his exemplary form by taking pole position under the floodlit streets. Just behind him, Charles Leclerc secured a front-row start followed by George Russell and Lando Norris on the second row. The usual suspect Max Verstappen managed fifth, promising an intriguing battle for the podium spots.
As the lights went out on race day, Antonelli got away cleanly, but it was Russell who impressed with a lightning start, briefly edging into second before Leclerc reclaimed the position at Turn 1. Norris maintained a strong fourth, while Verstappen struggled to keep up in the initial laps.
The narrative took a significant turn midway through the race when Lance Stroll's Aston Martin encountered a gearbox failure, stopping him in his tracks by lap 30. Only a few laps later, Oliver Bearman battled with severe tyre degradation, eventually leading to a collision with the barriers at Turn 12, prompting a Virtual Safety Car.
During the neutral period, strategic pit stops shuffled the order, benefiting Lando Norris, who jumped George Russell into third upon resumption. While Antonelli retained control up front, Leclerc began closing the gap relentlessly.
With only a handful of laps remaining, Lewis Hamilton, on fresh soft tyres, delivered a masterful drive that saw him snatch the fastest lap, a small consolation after his mid-race struggles left him unable to fight for the podium.
In the final laps, Antonelli displayed nerves of steel, holding off Leclerc to take his third victory of the season, while behind him Norris crossed the line in third, capping a superb performance. Russell and Verstappen followed, rounding out the top five. Oscar Piastri quietly navigated his way to a respectable sixth, reflecting his strong form this season.
The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix offered a kaleidoscope of action and strategic depth, with Antonelli yet again proving why he's a championship contender this season. F1 fans now eagerly await the next chapter in this thrilling season.
